Strength Training Using Your Own Body Weight
One type of strength training is body weight exercises. Instead of using equipment, this type of exercise uses your own weight as resistance in conjunction with simple exercises that can generally be done at home. Most people probably won't get to the point where all these exercises become easy. For those who have trained strenuously, eventually your own body weight might not offer the resistance that you actually need.
The first thing that you can do to make the exercises more difficult is to do more repetitions and more circuits. To a certain degree, this will help you increase endurance but at some point you won't really be improving your strength too much. There are only so many push-ups one can do in a row before it's not really effective for building extra muscle and strength. Depending on your personal fitness and strength goals, at some point in time you might need to add in some equipment. One form of equipment to consider are body vests. These are vests that fit snugly against your body with pockets where you can add in weights. What this will do is add some resistance for each exercise that you do.
Another strategy is to hold weights in your hands while doing exercises. This is good for leg type exercises like squats and lunges. The more weight you hold in each hand, the harder the exercises will become. Dumbbells also work well for this type of resistance.
