I really hate to admit this but I need some help with my running! It seems like it should come naturally but honestly, it doesn't! When I run, my knees seem to turn in so my legs (from the knee down!) go out. Does anyone else have this problem. Oh please someone have this problem!
How can I improve my running style? I don't really realise I am doing it wrong, it is just if I look in the mirror at the gym or if someone tells me (ie. laughs!).

This tends to be a problem for a lot of people, that's why there are a lot of books out concerning running form. If you do an interent search for Chi Running or Pose Running, you should get some good tips on improving your form

I have never heard of Chi Running or Pose Running before. I don't tend to have this exact problem. I have more of a problem with weak ankles.

The problem I have with running is that my legs run, so it makes running very uncomfortable. I also have pains in the knees sometimes too. I didn't know there were prescibed ways of running.

Do you have any issues with simply walking at a fast pace? If running is painful maybe you should adjust your exercise routine to accomodate comfort. If something is painful you're more likely to abandon it altogether. Find something that makes you comfortable and go with that.

wow I never knew there was books about running. I hate running. I get tired very quickly and same as lovetochat I must do something wrong because my knees hurt after I have been running. I will defiantly do some research about this.

I struggle with my knees when I run, which is why I prefer "jogging " on my mini trampoline or using a cross trainer at the gym as it eases the impact.

Definitely check out proper running styles or look into a trainer if you're having those kind of pains because repeatedly having that kind of injury can lead to significant damage later on. Also as mentioned above, it's very likely that you'll give up your fitness plan if it hurts too much to continue.

I saw this episode and was completely in agreement with it. You need to relax and enjoy your workout.

It's important not to just let these sorts of things fall to the wayside because eventually it'll catch up to you if you're not careful enough. Best to do a bit of research and slow things down rather than not be able to run at all later on.

No single prescription for effective work is that we all put together differently. These points form the general principles of the physical mechanisms that can be applied to all runners. Focus on the structure of your own abilities and never force behavior, particularly in themselves do not feel right.

Add a spin class, bike some hills, or climb some stairs once or twice a week, especially if your muscles are sore from running. These non-running workouts will boost your level of fitness and add enough extra leg strength to make a difference in your running times. One of my favorites is 4 x 2 min hill repeats on my mountain bike. I run in the morning and do this 30 minute intense workout in the evening. Hard work with no extra pounding!

Proper technique can not only improve your running performance but it can also reduce the risk of injury. These subtle changes in technique, involving mostly body lean and foot placement, have formed two popular styles: chi running and pose running.
Chi Running

Danny Dreyer, a U.S. ultramarathon runner, devised chi running, drawing on his practice of tai chi for inspiration. Dreyer incorporated some principles of tai chi, an ancient Chinese form of meditation through body movements, to reportedly increase mental focus, reduce pain and enhance the joys of running. Chi running attempts to make the individual more aware while running and is as much philosophical as it is physical.
Pose Running

In 1977, Russian Olympic running coach Nicholas S. Romanov created pose running, believing the body must achieve certain poses when running for maximum effectiveness. Romanov believed in analyzing the running body's movements to examine the transitional phases the arms and legs go through in order to achieve proper positioning. Pose running is scientific more than philosophical.

Running could be one of the best exercise but it is not applicable to all of us. Before we perform the activity, we better check our health, if we ready and compatible with the activity so that we can avoid having any problems.
